Story told by A cup & Tea

A group of 10th standard students met for a get-together party in their class teacher’s home after 10 years. They started discussing on various topics and soon the topic was diverted into the stress in the work life.

Their class teacher is listening to the conversation carefully while preparing tea for them. After some time, she came with a tea kettle and different assortment of cups like plastic, crystal, plain, porcelain, glass, some expensive, some cheap quality and kept on the table.

Everyone started taking one cup of tea. Then the class teacher said: ‘if you notice everyone selected expensive and good looking cups leaving the entire cheap aside. While it is very normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, which is the source of your problems and stress. We all know that cup doesn’t add any taste to the tea which we are drinking. In most cases, we will go for expensive things which even hide what we drink. What all of we really want is tea, not the cup. But we consciously eyeing for the best cup and began to comparing our cup with the others.

Now consider this: Life is the tea; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the tea. Enjoy your tea :)
