Solution to a Problem

In the last article Problems! Problems!! (http://www.paulpc.in/2015/11/problems-problems.html), we learned how to face it. In this article, let us know how to solve the problem. Hope this small story will bring a big change in you.

A philosophy professor came to class with a glass which was filled with water to some extent. He held it up so that whole class can see it. He asked the students to guess the weight of the glass.

Some students said 50gms... some said 100gms... some said 125gms. Then the professor said that he really don’t know the weight of it.

He asked another question. What would happen if I held it up like this for few minutes? Students said NOTHING.

Professor asked again. What would happen if I held it up like this for an hour? ‘Your hand will start aching’ said one of the students. Professor nodded his head stating that you are correct.

Professor asked again. Now, what would happen if I held it for a day? ‘You may suffer from muscle stress or even paralyzed and have to admit in a hospital for sure’ said one of the students. All the others started laughing.

Professor didn’t stop asking questions. He again asked, did the weight of the glass change? NO. Then what caused the hand pain and the muscle stress? Students started thinking and the whole classroom was filled with silence.

Professor asked his final question. What should I do now to come out of the pain? One student from the last bench shouted, “Put the glass down”. “Exactly”, said the professor.

Life’s problems are something like this. If you hold it for few minutes in your head then it seems OK. If you hold it for an hour, then you will start aching. If you hold it even longer then they begin to paralyze you. You will not able to do anything.

The professor ended the story like this: It is very important to think about the problems in our lives but even more important is to put them down at the end of the day before you go to sleep. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh & strong & can handle any problem that comes your way!

So, when you start your day today, remember my friend to ‘PUT THE GLASS DOWN!
