This is the saddest yet an inspiring story ever came across in Hollywood. He came from a poor background where he used to search for food on daily basis. One day he even stole his wife’s jewelry for food. Things became so worst that he sold out his own house for food. After few days, he was not able to pay the rent for his rented house. It resulted in to sleep at the New York bus station for 3 days.
His lowest point came when he sold his dog for $25. He says he walked away crying. Two weeks later, he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner. That match inspired him to write a film script. He sat for 20 hours and came with the story of all-time hit “Rocky”.
He tried to sell it and got an offer of $125,000 for the script. But his one request (to be the star in the movie) was denied. He wanted to be the main actor. Rocky himself, which the investor denied. After few weeks, the same investor offered him $250,000 for the script. He refused because of the condition. They even offered $350,000. He still refused. They wanted the script but not the script writer.
After a long discussion, the investor agreed to the condition and bought the script only for $35,000. The movie was released and the rest is history.
Yes, he is none other than Sylvester Stallone.
And do you know what he did firstly? He stood for three days at the shop where he sold his dog. After three days, the man with the dog came. Stallone explained about his previous situation and why he sold the dog for $25 and requested him to give it back. After 30 minutes of discussion, Stallone bought the $25 dog for $15,000.
Do you know? Rocky movie won Oscar awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Film Editing. Sylvester Stallone also nominated for Best Actor for his first movie Rocky. The movie Rocky was even inducted into the American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!
