One day a small
boy went to an ice-cream shop. He occupied one of the tables in the shop. A
waitress came and kept a glass of water on the table.
“May I know the
cost of ice cream sundae?”
“50 cents,”
replied the waitress.
The little boy
kept his hand in his pocket and kept the money on the table to count it. He
slowly counted the money while the waitress stood impatiently.
“May I know the
cost of plain ice cream?” the little boy inquired. Some people were now waiting
for a table and the waitress was a bit more impatient.
“35 cents,” she
said brusquely.
Again the little
boy counted the coins and ordered the plain ice cream.
Quickly the
waitress brought the ice cream. Slowly the little boy ate it and kept the bill
on the table and walked away.
When the waitress
came back, she cleaned the table and was shocked seeing the amount left by the
little boy.
It is 50 cents,
which means he can buy ice cream sundae. But to give a tip of 15 cents to the
waitress, he chose plain ice cream.
From this small
incident, the waitress learned a big lesson. Respect equally and never
underestimate.
