Opportunity under your feet

Once there lived a farmer John in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man visited the farmer and told about the importance of a diamond. He said, “If you have a thumb size diamond, you could have owned your city. If you had a fist size diamond, you could easily own your whole country.” The wise man left the farmer in the evening.

That night the farmer couldn’t sleep. He was unhappy because he was discontent. He was discontent because he was unhappy. He decided to sell his farm and start searching for diamonds. He searched whole Africa and couldn’t find anything. He searched whole Europe and couldn’t find anything. Later he went to Spain but the result is same. He lost his energy, money and hope. So he jumped into the Barcelona River and committed suicide.

The person who bought the farm from the John was preparing the ground for new crop. He found a stone which was shining like the sun. He thought that it would be a normal stone and took it to his home and started using it as a paperweight. One day the wise man came to the home and saw the stone and asked, “Is John back?” The new owner said, “No, why you ask like that?” The wise man pointing to the paperweight and said, “Because of this. It is a diamond and I thought John brought it.”

The man said, “No, it is just a stone which I found in my land which was sold by John.” So they both went to the land and saw so many stones like that. They took few stones for sample and sent them for analysis. The wise man guess is correct and the stones are precious diamonds. They started digging the farm and found many diamonds in the same farm which was sold by John.

MORAL: Opportunity is always under our feet. We don’t have to go anywhere. All we need to do is to recognize it.
