Power of the Tongue

A group of frogs were traveling in the forest. Two of them fell down into a deep muddy pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit and saw that it was very deep and, unfortunately, they can’t help them.

The two frogs were trying hard to come out of the pit. But the frogs which are outside were shouting that better stop trying and die. One of the frogs gave up and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. But the other frogs are shouting that not to suffer the pain but to die. He jumped even hard and finally made it out. When the frog came out, the other frogs asked him, “Why did you continue jumping when another frog gave up? Didn’t you hear us?”

The frog said that " I am deaf and I can’t hear the voice from far distance. I thought that you all are encouraging me in the entire process."

This story holds two lessons:

1. There is a power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.

2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path.

This is the power of the tongue. So let’s use it for encouragement rather than discouragement.
