Once there lived a farmer who grew award-winning
corn every year. Every time he enters into the competition, he won the blue
ribbon.
So one day a news channel reporter came to him and
started interviewing. In the midst of the interview, the reporter was shocked
to know that every year the farmer shared the award-winning corn with his
neighbour farmers too.
The reporter with further curiosity asked the
farmer, “How can you afford to share the award-winning corn with your
neighbours? You know very well that they were your competitors’ right?”
Then the farmer with a smile answered, “Didn’t you
know this? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from
the field to field. If my neighbours grow less quality corn, due to
cross-pollination the quality of my corn will be degraded. So if I need to grow
quality corn, then my neighbours must grow quality corn.”
The reporter ended the interview by saying, “The
farmer exactly know the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless
his neighbour’s corn also improves.”
In our day-to-day life, if you want to lead a
peaceful life then help your neighbours to live in peace. If you want happiness
in life, make sure to share your happiness with others.
