When Swami Vivekananda went to London to study Law, a white
professor named Mr. Peters disliked him intensely.
One day Mr. Peters was having his lunch in the canteen. Swamy
Vivekananda also came with his plate and sat next to him. The professor said,
“Mr. Swamy, don’t you know that a pig and a bird cannot sit together while
eating?” Vivekananda was angry but gave a smile and said, “You don’t worry
professor, I’ll fly away from here” and sat in another place. Mr. Peters moved
with full anger.
Next day in the class, the professor posed a question to
Vivekananda, “If you were walking down the street and found a bag full of
wisdom and a bag full of money, which one you choose?” Without wasting a
second, Vivekananda said, “The bag full of money, of course.” Mr. Peters
smiling sarcastically said, “If you ask me the same question then my answer
will be a bag full of wisdom.” Swami smiled and said, “Each one takes what he
doesn’t have.” The whole class was laughing which made professor more anger on
Vivekananda.
After correcting the examination papers, Mr. Peters wrote “Idiot”
on Vivekananda’s answer sheet. Vivekananda with his smile went and asked, “Mr.
Peters, you signed the sheet, but you forgot to give me the grade”
Moral: Don’t mess with intelligent people.
