Once there lived a mighty & strong lion that
killed all the other animals with his power. The lionesses and cubs were so
happy that they have enough food daily. Days pass on; the strong lion became
old and stopped hunting. He ordered the lionesses to hunt for food in which the
major portion was eaten by him.
One day while they were in the cave, they heard the
roaring of other lions. The lionesses and cubs advised lion to have a plan
before going out. But the strong & old lion went out and saw three young lions.
Straight away, he jumped on the first lion and
crushed him under his weight. He saw the second lion coming and took hold of
him too. But the third lion caught hold of the old lion’s leg. Due to pain, he
left the first & second lions and concentrated on the third one. These two
lions at once jumped and injured the mighty lion. The mighty lion saw his
family with tears in his eyes.
By seeing this, the lionesses and cubs entered into
the field. As the number is big, the three lions ran for their lives. They took
the old lion into the cave and nursed him with full care. It took more than a
year for the mighty lion to stand on his four legs. In all these days, they
gave the major portion of food to him only.
After one year, the mighty lion confessed his mistake
and said, it was due to his family who were his well-wishers that he was still
alive. He promised them that he too would go along with them for the hunt and
everyone would get the same share. Moreover, he said that he would indulge
himself with the family proceedings. Everyone rejoiced and cheered after
hearing this and from next day on wards, the lion kept his promise and the
family lived happily ever after.
We often don’t care about others and usually
neglect our well-wishers because of our stubbornness and ego and because we
don’t see any short-term profits in it, but it’s better to take some learning
from the lion before nature explains it in its own brutal way.
