3 Questions to Birbal

King Akbar was very fond of Birbal and used to praise him in front of the courtier. There are few people in the courtier who don’t like this. So they are planning to prove that Birbal was also as common in knowledge compare to them. After many days planning, they came with three questions to test the intelligence of Birbal.

One fine day, they all came to court and Akbar, as usual, started praising Birbal for his intelligence. This made the courtier very angry and he said that the king is praising Birbal without any reason. If King gives me a chance then I will prove that Birbal as same as we are. King Akbar always loves to test Birbal, so he readily accepted.

The three questions were:
1.    How many stars are there in the sky?
2.    Where is the centre of the earth?
3.    How many men and women are there in the world?

King Akbar was so excited to hear the reply from the Birbal. As usual, if Birbal doesn’t give satisfactory answers, he should resign for Chief Minister Job.

Birbal stood in the centre of the court and started his reply. To answer the first question, he brought a hairy sheep and said, “There are as many stars in the sky as there is hair on the sheep’s body. If my friend has any doubt then he can count the number and stars and hair on the sheep’s body.”

To answer the second question, Birbal drew a couple of lines on the floor and placed an iron rod in between those two lines and said, “This is the centre of the earth and my friend is most welcome to measure if he had any doubt.”

For the third question, Birbal said, “Counting the exact number of men and women is very easy but there are some people like my friend who belongs to other specimen but acts like men. If all the people like him are kept in prison or sentenced to death then only I can give the exact number of men and women.”

Moral: There is always an open door ready to escape.
