A four year old boy was walking along with his 6 year old sister in
a market. Suddenly he found that his sister was stopped and watching something.
The boy asked her sister that she wants anything. She pointed at a cute doll in
the shop. The little boy went inside the shop, took the doll and presented to
his sister.
The shopkeeper was watching the whole scene and amused by the small
boy’s big heart. In the meantime, the boy came and inquired the shopkeeper
about the cost of the doll.
Being a good man who came across so many difficulties in life, the
shopkeeper asked the boy, “Well, how much you can pay?”
The boy kept his hand in his pocket and gave all the shells which
he collected on the sea shore. The shopkeeper with a smile started counting them
as if he was counting the currency. The boy with a tensed face asked, “Is it
less?”
The shopkeeper said, “No, No, you gave more than the cost”. He took
only 4 shells and returned the remaining to the little boy. The boy and his
sister left the shop happily.
The worker in the shop was surprised and asked his master, “Sir,
you gave such a costly doll for just 4 shells?”
The shopkeeper with a smile on his face said, “For us, these are
mere shells. But for him, these are very precious. At this age, he doesn’t know
what actual money is, but when he will grow up, he definitely will. And then he
will realize that he bought a doll for 4 shells instead of money. He will
remember me and think that the world is full of good people. I sow a positive
thinking seed in his small heart, so that it will grow along with his age”.
