Once there lived a
beggar who is living along with his family. It is becoming very difficult to
get along with the family as he is a poor man.
One day while he is
begging in the streets, he saw the minister. The beggar ran towards him and
told his condition asking him for Rs. 1,000. The minister said that “If you ask
King then he will surely give the amount which you are expecting.” The beggar said,
“Sir, How can a beggar interact with the King?” The minister took a pause for a
second and said, “I will take you to the King.”
Then minister and
beggar went into the king’s court. Then the beggar started telling how poor he
is and how tough it is to get along with the family. So he asked the King to
give Rs. 1,00,000. By hearing this, the minister was shocked and said, “My
King! This poor beggar asked me only Rs. 1,000, so I brought him to your
presence. But now he changed the count to Rs. 100000.” Even King became angry
and asked the beggar for the clarification.
Then the beggar
said, “My Lord! Whole kingdom knows how miser our minister is. So asking him
Rs. 1000 is apt for him. At the same time, the whole kingdom knows how good you
are in giving. So asking you Rs. 1,00,000 is apt for you.” The king felt so
happy that his nature of giving is known even to a beggar in his kingdom. So he
ordered minister to give Rs. 10,00,000 to the beggar. The beggar took the money
and happily went to his home and led a happy life.
