Two men were seriously ill and joined in the hospital. The first man was near the window and the second one was next to him. Every day the first man was allowed to sit on the bed as he is suffering from lung infection. But the second one was forced to lie on bed throughout the day.
When the first man sat on his bed, he used to tell everything what’s going on outside from the window. Amazing views of a park with a beautiful lake could be seen from the window of their room. Children delightfully played among ducks and swans. Couples walked arm in arm among colourful flowers. Also, the stunning city skyline could be seen.
As the first man used to explain things very well that the second man just closes his eyes and imagines himself that he is in those explanations. This is the daily routine of these two patients.
One night the first man died peacefully during sleep and the second man was very sad. He requested the nurse to shift his bed to his place so that he can enjoy watching the outside world through the window. The nurse accepted the request with a smile.
This second man is so excited and with all his strength sat on the bed and leaned forward to see what’s going on in the world. He was shocked because except the blank wall nothing is visible from the window.
When the nurse came to visit him the next time, he told her about beautiful things outside the window that his roommate described him. The nurse replied that his roommate was a blind man. She said: “Probably he just tried to encourage you“.
