Once there lived a young and
boastful archer who challenged an old archer for a game. This young man was so
talented in his skill and hit a bull’s forehead on his first try and then split
that arrow into two parts with his second shot.
With a wild smile on his face, the
young man said, “There you go, let’s see whether you can match that or not”.
The undisturbed, smiling old archer
took him to the mountain top. The young archer was so anxious to know what he
is going to do. He showed a loose hanging bridge which was laid above a great
valley and took him there. The old man selected, rather far target and fired a
clean, direct hit.
The old man with his ever smiling
face said, “My boy it is your turn now”.
The young man with tension in his face,
standing on a shaky bridge couldn’t able to hit the target. He was so disappointed
and recognized that the old man was too ahead in shooting skill. But the old
man said, “We both were equally talented in shooting skill, but the difference
is you have less skill when the mind needs to work more. Without the balance of
mind, our technical skill has a rather limited applicability.
