Once there lived twin brothers who
had 100 acres of land each. As the lands were adjacent they shared all the
goods which were used on the farm. Everything was going fine but one day a
small misunderstanding came between them. With this, they had a big quarrel,
followed by weeks of silence.
One day a carpenter came to the
elder brother and requested him to assign some work. So the elder brother told
the carpenter to construct a fence between his farm and his brother’s farm.
From morning to evening, the
carpenter worked very hard and came to elder brother’s home to report the work.
The elder brother came to see how well he constructed the 8 feet tall fence.
But by seeing the construction, the elder brother was shocked. Instead of a
fence, the carpenter constructed the bridge from his farm to his brother’s
farm.
At the same time, the younger brother
came to his farm and saw the bridge. He thought that this bridge was his
brother’s idea and came to him and hugged him for repentance.
The elder brother took the carpenter
to his home and thanked him. He requested to stay the carpenter with him and work
under him. The carpenter smoothly rejected his request and said, “I have many
more bridges to build”.
