Once
there lived a King in China who had no children. He was so dissapointed for that. So, he wants to choose a
successor from his kingdom. Thousands of children from all over China came to
the palace. King gave a seed to everyone and told them to meet after a year.
Everyone started planting that seed in a pot. Like others, a
small boy named Ling also planted his seed in a pot. Every day he is watering
the seed and there is no sign of life in the seed. But his friend’s seeds are
started growing.
The weeks are passing on, Ling is watering his seed. But there
is no sign of life in the seed. His friends are making fun of him by showing
his pot. He is so discouraged, but his mother stood his side and started
encouraging him that not to lose confidence.
Months passed away, his friends seeds are growing big. Some had
trees, some had flowers, some had fruits, but Ling’s pot is not even started
any sign of life.
The due time is completed and all the children were assigned in
the King’s palace. King started examined everyone’s effort and started
appreciating them. Suddenly, King was stopped by seeing the empty pot of Ling.
He asked Ling to give the explanation for it. Ling with great fear told the
King like this.
“Your Majesty, every day I watered the seed. I waited for all
these months to see any life in the seed, but my waiting was wasted. There is
no other choice of bringing this empty pot before you”.
King started examined the other pots and finally went to his
majestic throne and started his speech. Almost everyone in this great kingdom
done many things in growing up the seed into a tree in the process of becoming
the next King. But, there is only one guy named Ling brought an empty pot.
The king asked Ling to come forward and show his pot to everyone
in the palace. Everyone started laughing by seeing that empty
But here I see thousands of trees and one empty pot. I tested
your integrity. In the test of integrity, Ling got selected and will be my
successor. Being honest will sometimes brings bad name but its ultimate destiny
is the success. Let’s maintain INTEGRITY.
