Then the professor
took some marbles and started pouring into the glass jar. Marbles started to
fill the gaps which are in between the stones. Again he asked the students, whether the glass jar is full or not. Students again told this time the glass
jar is really full.
Then the professor
took a cup of sand and started filling the glass jar. It started to fill the
glass jar without any gaps left. Again he asked the students, whether the glass
jar is full or not. Students this time told with one voice that the glass jar
is really full and no place is remaining to fill the glass jar.
Now the professor started to compare this parable with
life. He compares the glass jar with Life. The stones are like very important
things in the life – family, parents, health, children and life partner. Even
though everything in life you lost, if you have these people, then your life is
full. The marbles are like job, own house, car, luxuries and the sand are
remaining stuff in the life.
This is not the end of
the story, here comes the paragraph which justifies the theme of the article.
If you fill the jar with sand first, that
means the small things which are not that important then there is no place for
marbles and stones. If you spend all your time and energy in filling the sand
in the glass jar, then there won’t be any space in the glass jar to fill with
the marbles and stones which are very important in the life. Pay more attention
to the things which not only brings happiness to you but also to your dear
ones. Spend time with your parents, play with your children, dance with your
spouse, take your family to the outing, leave everything and spend happily with
your family. We always have time to work, eat, enjoy with colleagues and taking
care of households.
“Take care of the
Rocks first – the things that really matters”. Set your priorities to rocks
because the rest is all sand.
